The body keeps the score but the body also is the site for healing.

This inclusive and gently paced programme is designed to work directly with the physiological elements of stress and trauma by using yoga forms, stabilising breath techniques and mindfulness to gently engage in the feeling sensations in your body over an 8 week period. Working with evidence-based, body-centred interventions, we build a felt-sense of stability and safety back into the body

The programme is both educational and experiential so as to provide the best foundation for the client and prioritises duty of care with 2 facilitators available to support both the group experience and the individual support.

SOMA is proud of the reputation it has built in providing excellence in felt-sense trauma-informed care and real results for their clients.

The testimonial below is an example of feedback that we often receive:

"The programme has honestly changed my life. For the first time that I remember, I feel safe in my body and can self-soothe. I feel hopeful for what my future will be based on how far I have come in the last 8 weeks."

Over time a more attuned relationship with your body is possible as you practise making supportive choices for yourself  based on this increased awareness of how your body is responding to any given situation.

YOU WILL:

  • Learn about nervous system regulation

  • Learn tools to build capacity for feeling

  • Build beneficial attitudes towards yourself and your body

  • Experience a supportive space where you can come just as you are

  • Learn practices to take into your life

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Everyone is in choice to participate in the way that's best for them.

  • All movement is an invitation to reclaim a cohesive felt-sense of self.

  • Group awareness while focusing on personal experience

STILL STUCK?

If you still feel unable to register due to your financial capacity, please contact kiaora@soma.nz and let us help you find a solution.

THE PHYSICAL SPACE

The building is accessible for wheelchairs. Classes can be adapted to include many physical considerations - you can choose to

work from a chair or the floor, you can choose to use a block or bolster to support your posture, and you can choose to opt out of

postures that you don’t feel comfortable in.

OUR COMMITMENT TO INCLUSIVITY

We are committed to delivery which is culturally-safe and gender-affirming.

Being around new people that I didn’t know in a safe space has helped my confidence so much. Looking back at at the beginning of the classes I felt a lot more anxious, didn’t really engage with others. But now I am considering reaching out to people again.
