Steady in the Storm
A class to meet you where you are.

DATES

24th April
15th May
19th June
17th July
21 August

Our monthly Resting Together class has been renamed "Steady in the Storm."

Steady in the Storm is an  acknowledgement of the disruption that is being felt in our communities, locally and globally. In this class you are offered slow gentle movement to release stress and tension, a deep resting practice and a short somatic enquiry that builds personal and community resilience. We can hold and process more in community than going it alone, nourished by the presence of others.

Come as you are.

Pay what you can.
No prior group movement experience is necessary.

A range of seating for mobility support.

Pay what you can:
Please offer a koha that suits your financial capacity. This supports SOMA's commitment to accessible options for our community.

If you haven't the capacity right now, you are warmly welcome to come and receive.

PLEASE NOTE: As a social enterprise the fee we charge covers the cost of delivering the class to you and do not make a profit. Therefore we need a minimum amount of participants for the class to go ahead.

I attended Jacinda's rest class the other day. As soon as I entered the space, my body started to relax and I felt safe. The movements were gentle and mindful and as the class went on, my nervous system relaxed more and more. This allowed space for sensations, emotions and feelings to come to the surface naturally, ready to be acknowledged and released. It was a deep restorative experience and totally needed! Jacinda was holding the space wonderfully and making sure everyone was comfortable and felt supported. Thank you Jacinda for your precious offering!

Experience a beautiful evening Song Bath with Cherish Threshold Singers

With gentle songs and harmonies, you will be held in a cocoon of healing sound.

Bathing in song is profoundly nourishing for mind, body and spirit. Modulating the autonomic nervous system and toning the vagus nerve, this will be an evening for deep rest and healing. Particularly for those who are feeling the affects of overwhelm, who may be managing health concerns, are grieving a loss, or for those who love to rest back with soothing music.

You are invited to get very comfortable sitting or lying down.  Mats, blankets and props are available.   A care team is available to support people's comfort.

We will settle in and the Singers will surround you with simple, beautiful songs interspersed with silence.   An option to share a cuppa with others completes the evening.

Your donation will support the community offerings of both SOMA and Cherish.

For more about Cherish Threshold Singers go to Cherish and scroll down.

Somatic Trauma Release Sessions

DATES

Friday 4th April - 5:30-7pm
Friday 2nd May - 5.30-7pm

Natasha Godetz runs monthly Somatic Trauma Release sessions from SOMA. These sessions use a range of somatic exercises as a way to move and process stuck energy, emotions and trauma through the body.

They focus on an instinctive mechanism called therapeutic tremoring - a natural tool for self-regulation, healing and maintaining homeostasis and this is done through shaking and specific movements to target the psoas and hips - the two main areas where we hold a lot of tension.

These classes are slow and gentle and place a huge emphasis on building trust and connection with your body.

If you would like to read more about this modality or Natasha please head to www.natashagodetz.com or email natashagodetz@gmail.com

Important Note:

The intention of these sessions is to guide you through somatic ways to release held patterns of tension in the body that can linger after trauma & stress. They are not designed to revisit the traumatic event. That being said as with any body based practice, emotions can arise. If you are currently working through a particular trauma and need extra support we recommend booking a 1:1 session first so that we can work with your unique body in a tailored session rather than a general class. This modality is a great complementary therapy alongside talk therapy. Please reach out if you would like to chat more about these classes.
